London Stansted Airport (STN)
Airport Information

(London, England, UK)

Located 48 km / 30 miles to the north-east of London on the M11 motorway, London Stansted Airport (STN) is the country's third-busiest airport and around the 50th in the world. Stansted Airport serves almost 24 million passengers annually, travelling to some 150 destinations worldwide in 35 different countries.

Many major carriers operate from the terminal, which mainly receives European flights, although flights also come in from Turkey and the USA. Much of the traffic at London Stansted Airport consists of 'no-frills' budget airline services, which have made their base here. The airport is conveniently located in close proximity to London and the Midlands, and features just one terminal, with arrivals and departures being situated on the same level. London Stansted Airport currently boasts more than 40 airlines and around 190,000 yearly take-offs and landings.

Transfer services from London Stansted Airport (STN) to London city centre and beyond are exceptional, with a number of bus and train services running into the city, as well as to regional towns and cities. The Stansted Express rail service runs to Liverpool Street Station regularly throughout the day, seven days a week. Taxis are readily available and there are also limousine services for transport to London. However, fares into central London are generally a little expensive.

About London Tourism

The capital of Great Britain and Europe's largest metropolis, London is one of the world's most entertaining cities. Loaded as it is with world-class attractions and sights, historical and cultural icons, the city also boasts extensive shopping and dining, and a dazzling nightlife. Those choosing to base themselves in the heart of the city centre will find that London holiday rentals can often be surprisingly good value for money, although if you crave views of attractions lining the banks of the Thames, you can expect to pay more for this privilege. Businessmen often favour staying in the Docklands, being close to the offices of Canary Wharf and well connected to the rest of the city by the inexpensive Docklands Light Railway.

Major attractions within reach of Stansted Airport (STN) include Big Ben, St. Paul's Cathedral, the British Museum and Buckingham Palace, while Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Covent Garden and Knightsbridge are a delight for strolling and window shopping. Be sure not to miss a trip on the London Eye, or a visit to view the contemporary art works at the Tate Modern.
